Moiz, Hammad, Sohaib shines in Junior World Scrabble Championship 2018

The Shangrila Pakistan team's occupied top 6 positions on 2nd day of Junior World Scrabble Championship in Torquay, England.

The Shangrila Pakistan teams dominate the second day of the Junior World Scrabble Championship as they occupied the top 6 position at the end of day.

Former world youth champion Moiz Ullah Baig was in irresistible form as he firmly placed at the top of the scoreboard. Moiz has a 14-2 win record and a spread of 1489. His only defeat of the day coming at the hand of compatriot Daniyal Sanaullah. Moiz is now two wins clear of the next player and seems to be in a strong position to win the title.

Hammad Hadi, who inflicted the only defeat to Moiz on day-one is currently 2nd with 12 wins and a spread of 1129. Interestingly the same two players made an almost similar start to the final day of the Princess cup in Thailand last year with Hammad narrowly edging out Moiz to take the title.

16 year old Sohaib Sanaullah ended day-two on the 3rd spot with 11 wins and a spread 1222 .Rising star 12 year old Imaad Ali is lying 4th with 11 wins and a spread of 678 .

Hassan Hadi made the championship look like a domestic tournament in Pakistan by occupying the 5th position with 11 wins and a spread of 574.Taha Mirza completed the total dominance of Pakistan by occupying the 6th position with 10 wins and a spread of 657 .

Poh Ying Ming of USA is currently the top non-Pakistani at 7th with 10 wins and a spread of 67.The defending champion Matthew O'Connor of USA made a horrendous start to the day losing his first four games which put him out of the top half.

He made a brief recovery with two huge wins but another defeat later in the day effectively killed his chances Matthew is currently 9th with a 9-7 record and is five wins behind the leader Moiz. Only a miracle on the final day can help him retain his title.

At this moment it looks like an all Pakistan show going in to the third and final day while 8 more games will be played on the final day.
