Peshawar claims the first spot in 13th Inter-Divisional Judo Championship

Total 64 fighters from 7 divisions took part in the 2018 Inter-Divisional Judo Championship which was staged at Kohat Sports Complex in Gulshanabad.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judo Association in collaboration with District Judo Association and Divisional Sports Officer Kohat organized the 13th edition of Inter- Divisional Judo Championship

This championship featured sevens divisions whose fighter competed hard against each other in both male and female categories.

Following were the participating cities:
1. Peshawar
2. Mardan
3. Kohat
4. Lakki Marwat
5. D.I. Khan
6. Hazara and
7. Malakand

The championship was held in 4 different weight categories of Men i.e. -60, -66, -73 and +73 kg and Women i.e. -44, -48, -52, and -63 kg each.

Fighter from Peshawar division ended the championship with sealing the first spot by winning five gold, one silver and as many bronze medals with a total of 90 points while Kohat division followed with 55 points after grabbing two gold, one silver and three bronze medals. Whereas Hazara division managed to secure the third position with a total of 50 points and one gold, three silver and a bronze medal.

Peshawar’s two fighters; Imran Khan and Waheed’s performance was declared outstanding throughout the championship.

Mr. Farid Saqlain, Nazim of Kohat was the chief guest at the closing ceremony and along with former President of KP Judo Association, Mr. Masood Ahmad and District Sport Officer, Mr. Saqlain Shah awarded the high achievers with medals as well as souvenirs among Team Official and Technical Officials.
