WAPDA beat PAK Army to win National Women Basketball Championship 2018
WAPDA retains its title after defeating PAK Army 54-45 in the final of National Women Basketball Championship 2018 which was played at Pakistan Sports Complex in Islamabad.
Defending champions WAPDA outplayed their rival team PAK Army in the final of National Women Basketball Championship 2018 by 54-45. PAK Army was lacking the skills, stamina and form against the super fit WAPDA players as they dominated the game right from the start. But PAK Army did not stay behind for long and through there impressive ball-handling skills reduced the winning team’s lead in the second quarter with just one point behind i.e 21-20.
However, WAPDA basketball players were not ready to lose their title and started putting the opponent team in pressure through Mehru and Madiha as both the players earned 24 and 10 points receptively with their excellent passing and dipping skills.
Ayesha and Zobia from the losing team were the most valuable players as they favored their team with 21 and 12 points receptively. While Mehru of the winning team was awarded with the title “best player of the championship”.
Earlier, Lahore Women Basketball Team defeated Karachi Women Basketball Team and managed to be placed at third spot in the championship.
National Women Basketball Championship 2018 was organized by Federal Basketball Association in collaboration with Pakistan Basketball Federation (PSF) and Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) that featured a total of ten teams who battled in the championship for the ultimate title win.
