Muhammad Bilal lost to Thanawat Tirapongpaiboon of Thailand in the final clash as Thailand player managed to win gold by 3-7 frames.
Former Pakistan national champion Bilal put a shiny start as he won the first frame by 36-2 but Thanawat came back strongly and won the next frame by 4-38. 25-years-old from Thailand broke 43 points to further enhance the lead at 2-1 with the score of 50-10.
Bilal started playing aggressively as he won the next 2 consecutive frames to make it 3-2.But Thanawat put pressure on Pakistani one as he produced a skill full game to won the next 3 frames to further enhance the lead at 5-3.
In the toughest ninth frame of the Asian 6 Red Championship final, Pakistan’s Mohamed Bilal was putting together a comeback after being 3-5 down. A 32-point break had put him 33-0 up in the frame with only the coloured balls left.
However, the 33-year-old men in green missed potting the yellow. A couple of shots later, his opponent, Thailand’s Thanawat Tirapongpaiboon, snookered Bilal on the yellow and snapped his first points when the Pakistani player fouled on it.
Thirapongpaiboon looked at the scoreboard, and found the cue favorable for him and began potting the rest, eventually taking the frame by 1 point at 34-33.
In the last frame, In the next frame, Bilal tried paying back with a snooker of his own as the game was at 34-0 in favour of the Thai player.
A couple of fouls by Tirapongpaiboon and a 14-point break later, the score was at 34-31, but it wasn’t enough to prolong the game.
Tirapongpaiboon potted the pink to take the frame, and with it his first Asian title in four years.
While, Pakistan’s Mohamed Bilal secured the runner up spot in the Asian 6 Red Championship 2018 at the Qatar Billiards and Snooker Federation Hall.
Babar also fetched two medals – a gold medal in team event with Mohammad Asif and a bronze in 6-Reds.
