Tayyab moves into $28,000 HKFC PSA International’s second round

Pakistan’s top squash player Tayyab Aslam moved into the second round of the $28,000 HKFC PSA International from 18th - 22nd September at Hong Kong Football Club, Happy Valley, Hong Kong.

Pakistan’s top squash player Tayyab Aslam moved into the second round of the $28,000 HKFC PSA International at Hong Kong Football Club, Happy Valley, Hong Kong.

In the first round world ranked 71 Tayyab Aslam and world rank 149 Robert Downer of England started with long rallies as both the players tested each others reach on the court. Tayyab Aslam managed to stay ahead from the start and kept Robert in pursuit as Tayyab won first 2-games with same score of 11-8. Tayyab had a sluggish start to the thrid game as he lost it by 7-11. Robert continued to display a visibly superior game compared to Tayyab's as he won the fourth game to equalized the lead at 2-2 with the score of 11-8. In the last game player from Lahore came back strongly as he produced skillful game to move into second round with the final score line of 11-8, 11-8, 7-11, 8-11, 11-6 in 62 minutes battle.

Now Tayyab will face seventh seed George Parker of England in the second round.

Israr Ahmed and Ammad Fareed lost their matches in the first round. Israr was beaten by Mohd Syafiq Kamal of Malaysia 12-10, 9-11, 11-3, 9-11, 7-11 in 55 minutes. Ammad was smashed by Ramit Tandon of India 6-11, 7-11, 5-11 in just 26 minutes.
