Pakistan to face traditional rivals India in AFC U-16 Women’s Football Championship 2018

Pakistan will be competing against the arc-rivals India in the in 2018 Asian Football Confederation U-16 Women’s Football Championship which is being held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Under 16 Women’s Football Championship 2018 is a biennial women's football tournament for youth teams organized by the Asian Football Confederation featuring a total of 30 nations this year that will be seen battling for the title in the championship.

The championship forms 6 pools and in each pool 5 nations are grouped together for competitions. Pakistan is placed in group B among 4 other countries.
  
Following are the 4 nations grouped with Pakistan:
1. Mongolia
2. India
3. Laos and
4. Hong Kong
Pakistan made a disappointing start into the championship losing to the host country Mongolia on 8-0 score in its opening match. Mongolia dominated the entire game through scoring 3 goals in the first half while 5 in the second half. Pakistan failed to net a single goal despite having created several chances at the opponent’s goal post.

Whereas in the second match as well, Pakistan U-16 Women Football Team lost the match to Laos by 3-0. However, Pakistan displayed a much better performance in their foot-work as compared to their previous game because this time the team was defeated on a 3-0 score.

Laos’ players got successful in thrashing Pakistan as they took the control of the ball and kept it mostly to themselves netting the ball twice in the first half into the game. Pakistan took the advantage in the second half, launching themselves at the ball and created goal opportunities twice but were not able to get successful in scoring any goal at all for the team. Laos’ team then netted the winning goal and claimed the win of the game.

This championship commenced from 15th September and will continue till 28th September. The championship further serves as the qualifying competition for the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.

Pakistan will now battle it out continuing the traditional rivalry against India on 19th September at 01:00 Pakistan Standard Time in its third group B match.
