3 Pakistani Judokas to feature in World Judo Championship 2018

Three Pakistani Judokas will participate in the 2018 World Judo Championship which is scheduled to be held from 20th to 27th September in Azerbaijan, Baku.

World Judo Chamapionship came back this year yet again with another edition featuring 5 continents, 129 nations and 800 competitors among which 409 will be having fights in men category while 309 will be the women fighters.   

Qaisar Khan (men -90 kg), Shah Hussain (men -100 kg) and Toyoda Amina (women -57 kg) are the Judokas who will show their brilliant skills in the fighting sport representing Pakistan in this international event.

Pakistan’s Japanese-based Olympian, Shah Hussain won a silver medal in 2013 Asian Championship and won a gold medal in the 2014 South Asian Championship.

In July, Qaiser Khan won a silver medal in Asian Cup Cadet Macau, bronze medal in Asian Cup Cadet 2018, Hong Kong and took 5th Position in Asian Junior Judo Championship Hong Kong.

Whereas Toyoda Aimna is Japanese based Pakistani Judoka who will be representing Pakistan in World Judo Championship 2018. The 19 year old Pakistani-Japanese Judoka has represented Pakistan in the Asian Cadet Judo 2018 as well.

Following are the weight categories to be contested in the championship:

Men:
1. Extra-lightweight (60 kg)
2. Half-lightweight (66 kg)
3. Light-weight (73 kg)
4. Half-middleweight (81 kg)
5. Middle-weight (90 kg)
6. Half-heavyweight (100 kg) and
7. Heavy-weight (+100 kg)

Women:
1. Extra-lightweight (48 kg)
2. Half-lightweight (52 kg)
3. Light-weight (57 kg)
4. Half-middleweight (63 kg)
5. Middle-weight (70 kg)
6. Half-heavyweight (78 kg) and
7. Heavy-weight (78+ kg)

Azerbaijan Baku will be hosting the 2018 World International Judo Championship this time which will take place from 20th to 27th September and all the fights will be contested in National Gymnastics Arena in Azerbaijan.
