Karachi Academy clinches the title of NSA Defense Day Women Softball Championship 2018
Karachi Academy defeated Khairpur Academy by 12-5 in the final of NSA Defence Day Women Softball Championship 2018 which was being played in Naz Pilot School in Sukkur, Karachi.
The championship had been jointly organized by Sukkur Softball Association (SSA) and National Softball Academy (NSA) in order to honor the Defence Day of Pakistan. Sukkur, Khairpur and Karachi were the teams that feature in the two-day event.
In the opening matches, Karachi Academy started with good form outplaying Sukkur Academy by 15-7 while Khairpur overcame Larkana Academy by 11-5. President Traders Association Khairpur, Abdul Ghafoor inaugurated the event.
However, Karachi Academy and Khairpur Academy were declared the qualifiers for the final who were seen in quite action as they competed in their final match of the game. Karachi Academy once again displayed outstanding performance beating Khairpur Academy by 12-5 in their six-inning final encounter against the opponent team.
Karachi marvelously scored 4 runs in the first inning whereas Khairpur scored 2. In response Karachi then scored 5 runs dismissing Khairpur for 2 again. Whereas in the last innings of Karachi Academy, Karachi’s players scored 3 runs and set a target of 9 runs for Khairpur team who failed to chase it and fell for just 1 run.
Mursaleen with 3 runs while Manahil Aftab, Ayesha Ishtiaq and Bushra Javed with 2 runs each proved the best for the winning team. As for the losing side, Maria Hassan, Noor and Salma scored 1 run each.
Zarlash Shakeel was declared the best pitcher and Mursaleen was the player to caught best catches of the two-day championship.
