Major Shabbir Shaheed XI, Major Aziz Bhatti XI victorious in Defence Day Basketball Tournament 2018
Maj Shabbir Shaeed XI beat Rashid Minhas Shaheed XI and Maj Aziz Bhatti XI beat Major Akram Shaheed XI and advances into the semifinal of Defence Day Basketball Tournament 2018 in the match played at Arambagh court in Karachi.
Major Shabbir Shaeed XI played marvelously as they did not allow Rashid Minhas Shaheed XI team to play freely to win the one sided encounter by 71-43. Major Shabbir Shaeed XI basketball player Hamza top-scored with 18 points for the winning team. Also Hammad Khan with 17 points and Abdullah Khan making 11 points contributed well enough to cruise their team towards victory of the game.
Whereas for the losing side, Rashid Minhas Shaheed XI’s players played with effort trying to win at their best with Usaid Saeed dipping 12 points. Jahangir Khan making to the basket at 10 points and Zia Saeed with 8 points.
In the second match of the day, Major Aziz Bhatti XI basketball team outplayed Major Akram Shaheed XI’s team on 58-38 which proved to be a one-sided encounter entering the semifinals. Syed Bakhtiar scored most 15 points while Mohammad Usama basketed 12 and Shameer Zaheer scored 11 points. These were the main scorers for the winning team who made it hard for their opponents to earn points against them.
Major Aziz Bhatti XI basketball team suffered major upset as the players lost the match with huge difference in their quarter-final match. Taimur Zaheer dipped the ball into the basket gaining 13 points whereas Abbas Khan scored one point behind with 12 in total and Tahir Naqqash basketed 7 points.
The final of the event will be played on 15th September at the Arambagh basketball court in Karachi.
