Tayyab Rauf qualify for the main round of KP National Junior Squash Championship

The two day qualifying rounds of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa National Junior Squash Championship got under way here at PAF Hashim Khan Squash Complex , Peshawar.

Nazim Nawa Khali Sajjad Khan Khalil graced ther cermony as the chief guest on this occasion who formally inaugurated the Championship wherein players from all across Pakistan are taking part. Member Executive Committee Wazir Gul, PAF Academy Coach Atlas Khan, former World Champion Qamar Zaman, Tournament Chief Referee Munawaz Zaman, Imran Khan from Punjab, officials of the Sindh, Balochistan, Islamabad and a good number of players were also present during the opening of the qualifying rounds. 

In the opening match top seed of the Under-17 category Tayyab Rauf defeated Fawad Hussain in a thrilling 3-1 battle with the final score line of  7-11, 11-7, 12-10 and 11-9. Four each players would qualify for the main round of the Under-15 and Under-17 categories.

Speaking on this occasion, Sajjad Khan Khalil lauded the role of KP Squash Association for organizing more tournaments from and winning the President Pakistan Squash Federation Pride of Performance Trophy for the fourth consecutive years.

He assured the players that all out efforts would be taken for the smooth sailing of the Championship to be played in two different categories Under-15 and Under-17. Speaking on this occasion, Munawar Zaman disclosed that a total of 128 players are taking players with 64 players each in Under-15 and Under-17 categories.

He said two day qualifying rounds would be played before the main round. Malik Wajid, Member of the Provincial Assembly, would grace the occasion as chief guest at the main round.
