India bowed out to Pakistan in Men’s Volleyball at the 18th Asian Games
A stunning performance from Pakistan Volleyball Team against India to come back from one set behind to win it 3-1 in Asian Games 2018 Men's Quarterfinal for 7th-12th Place.
The Pakistan Men’s Volleyball team has won against the rivals India in the classification round to come back from one set behind to win it 3-1.
Players trained by Hamid Mohidi started rather slow in the first set which opened with India’s serve. But soon came in action when Idrees netted the first score for Pakistan. To break Pakistan’s momentum India got its first break when they were at loss of one point over Pakistan at 8-9. India did not stay behind for long and came back with 15-16 points before the second time out. Idress made the first fault serve at a crucial point of 17-17 giving India the lead on 18-17. Jerome remained the most efficient player leaving India at 20 points over 19 till the second time out from Pakistan. The two teams closely followed each other in the dying moments of the first set, but due to a dismal performance of Pakistani players India closed the first set at 25-21.
Pakistan got the early advantage in the second set when they got an initial lead at 3-5, but lost Idress, who has been the most efficient player, when he landed on a knee-ankle injury in the game. Pakistan kept the lead with smashing 1 point saved by Nasir Ali on 7-4 doing the stunning job defensively. Pakistan’s score further extended to 4-11 before India got its first break of the second set. The Pakistani side came back from behind when Kamran brought up the heat again on 18-11. Pakistan cruised to a comfortable second set with strong defenses winning the set on 25-21.
The third set opened with India’s serve gaining one point. Pakistan soon launched fast offensive moves against the Indian team, when Idress came back from his injury and made the team finish the score at 7-10 before the first break from Pakistan’s side. India’s two fault serves at 11-8 and 13-9 helped Pakistan gain the game with Aimal Khan blocking India and leading 16-15 till the technical time out. Indian team put its maximum effort but could not stop Pakistan from edging their lead towards the win and Pakistan wrapped up a terrific set on 25-21.
Pakistan's speed was too much for the Indian team in the fourth set, with the set ending 25-23 and the match going to Pakistan. This is Pakistan’s 2nd win at the Asian games in volleyball event.
A grueling fight with strong smashes by Jihan Murad and Aimal Khan combined with the Pakistani athletes’ was witnessed taking it 1-3 to seal a hard-earned win with a final score line of 25-21, 21-25, 21-25and 23-25.
