Pakistan 7s rugby team depart for the participation in the Asian Games 2018 schedule to be held from from Aug 30 to Sept 1 in the Rugby D field in Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex Jakarta, Indonesia. With 12 men’s and eight women’s sides set to compete in Jakarta, all sides are looking to test themselves against the best in the continent.
For Pakistan, who face a tough pool alongside Thailand, China and Hong Kong, the importance of this event does not go unnoticed.
“Now with the inclusion of sevens in the Olympics, being part of the Asian Games is another level of competition that we need,” Pakistan captain Kashif Khawaja said!.
“It helps foster more competitive games for participating nations to develop their skills and for us in Asian this is a huge moment.”he further added.

But with the exposure the sport will get, it is an important step for Pakistan. “With the whole world watching the Asian games, I think it will be encouraging for every Asian country to take on this amazing sport and especially for us to showcase to our country what is possible.
Pakistan Rugby team head Coach Shakeel Ahmed Malik told that we have a very good last event. We play some great rugby. Team is gearing up good. We have three days came this weekend and after end last camp. So we preparations but we fought with some giantsrugby team like Hong kong, China and Thailand but we go with positive mind frame and play some great and good rugby. Boys hoping that we are in top six teams of Asia.
“It is a great honour to represent my country in this year’s Asian Games and with skilful giants such as Japan participating, we hope to put up our best performance and hope to achieve positive results.” The competition takes place from August 30 – 1 September
