Pakistan thrash Thailand 10-0 in 18th Asian Games Hockey

Atiq Arshad struck a hat trick while his brother Tauseeq Arshad, Mohammad Irfan and Abu Bakr all scored 2 goals each. Mubashar Ali scored one goal.

 

Eight time champions Pakistan started their 18th Asian Games Hockey campaign in an aggressive fashion with a 10-0 win over Thailand.

Pakistan's first goal of the game came in the last minute of first quarter when Toseeq scored from a penalty corner. Earlier in the quarter, Muhammad Irfan missed a shot from a penalty corner in the 2nd minute while another shot from Irfan was saved by the goalkeeper in the 9th minute.

Pakistan picked up the pace in the 2nd quarter as they scored 2 goals in 2 minutes with a goal from a penalty corner in the 21" and a field goal in the 22", and later, further extended their lead in the last moments of the 2nd quarter with a second goal from Muhammad Irfan.

In the 3rd quarter, Mubashar Ali scores from a penalty corner in the 32nd minute, followed by 3 goals in four minutes as Muhammad Atiq scored in the 38th, Abu Bakar Mahmood's goal on penalty corner in 41st, followed by hat trick goal from Atiq in the 42nd minute. Pakistan was leading 8-0 at the end of 3rd quarter.

Abu Bakar Mahmood scored his second goal of the game from a penalty corner in the 48th minute followed by Toseeq Arshad's second and games 10th goal in the very next minute.
