Master Paints, Army Remounts score wins in Polo Cup
Habib Metro and Army Remounts recorded victories in the Members Polo Cup 2016 played at Lahore Polo Club on Wednesday.
LAHORE - Master Paints/Habib Metro and Army Remounts recorded victories in the Members Polo Cup 2016 matches played here at the Lahore Polo Club (LPC) ground on Wednesday. Hissam Ali Hyder’s heroics helped Master Paints/Habib Metro register a thumping 9-5½ victory over Adisseo in the first match of the day. Hissam struck superb seven goals in his team’s triumph while Fedrick contributed tremendous two. For Adisseo, Shah Qubilai was top scorer with two goals while Usman Haye and Abdul Rehman Monnoo had one goal apiece.
Adisseo were off to flying start as they scored two back-to-back goals – one each by Usman Haye and Shah Qubilai – to take 2-0 lead, but Master Paints players bounced back brilliantly and struck twice to level the score at 2-2. Hissam and Fedrick were the goal scorers who hit one goal each. Master Paints dominated the second chukker fully by smashing fabulous four goals – three by Hissam and one Fedrick while Adisseo struck once through Shah Qubilai to finish the chukker at 6-3.
Hissam continued his good form in the third chukker by scoring two more goals to strengthen his team’s lead to 7-3 which was later reduced by Adisseo’s Abdul Rehman reduced the lead to 7-4. Hissam added two more in the fourth and last chukker to complete his seven-goal haul and finished the match at 9-4. With one and half goal advantage for Adisseo, the final score was 9-5½. Juan Cruz Losada and Hamza Mawaz Khan were the umpires while Omer Minhas was referee.
In another match of the day, Army Remounts routed Barry’s, who had two-goal handicap advantage, by 10 goals to two. For the winners, Raja Samiuallah excelled with his four goals while Major Haseeb Minhas contributed three, Major General Isfandiyar Khan Pataudi hit two and Major Omer Minhas added one.
Saqib Khan Khakwani and Ahmed Ali Tiwana were the field umpires and Fedrick was referee.
