Qaiser Khan win bronze medal in Asian Cup Cadet in Hong Kong
Young Judoka Qaisar Khan from Khyber, KPK, won the contest for 3rd position in in -90kg weight category at Hong Kong Cadets Asian Cup. Qaisar khan, now ranked #25, gets a step closer to qualify for youth Olympics 2018.
Qaisar clashed for bronze medal against better ranked Cadet, world #18 Iranian Judoka, Shojaei Bakhtiyari Abolfazl. Qaisar defeated him by a Ippon (full point) to win the bronze medal.
Qaiser has earlier topped -90Kg Pool D to qualify for the Finals by defeating Malaysian Judoka Tan Tze Ning by a lppon in the First Round and #6 ranked Lin Sheng-Kai of Chinese Taipei in the second(/final) round of pool D.
In the semi-final, Qaiser was up against #5 ranked Hungarian Judoka, VEG Zsombor. Qaisar gave him tough time to get golden score, but unfortunately lost the game by half point from his more experienced rival.
3rd position on the stand at Hong Kong Cadets Asian Cup 2018 helped Qaiser earn 40 points and improve his ranking by 4 position as he climbed to #25 from previously held ranking of 29 in Cadets -90Kg category.
The Secretary General of Pakistan Judo Federation Mansoor Ahmad said that the medal will not only improve his world ranking but also enhance the chances to qualify for the Youth Olympics 2018 be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina on 1-6 Oct.
Qaiser now heads to Macau from Hong Kong for training from July 16-19 before his participation in Macau Cadets Asian Cup 2018 from July 19-22, 2018. The President of Pakistan Judo Federation Colonel Junaid Alam said that Qaiser is performing well and feeling competitive and hopefully in future he will bring more titles for Pakistan.
A descent performance in Macau Cadets Asian Cup 2018 will ensure qualification for Qaiser into Youth Olympics 2018.
