Tayyab Aslam to face off second seed Farhan Zaman in squash Circuit III final
The fourth seed Tayyab Aslam and farhan Zaman defeated their respective opponents to book their berth in the final of the $15,000 Pakistan Squash Circuit III at the PN Roshan Khan-Jahangir Khan Squash Complex, Karachi.
The men’s first semifinal proved to be a one-sided affair as fourth seed Tayyab Aslam Tayyab played outstanding squash and dominated the entire encounter fully and never allowed former squash champion Farhan Mehboob to make a comeback. Tayyab won the first game by 11-1 with upmost ease and faced some resistance in the second game to take it 11-4. When Tayyab was leading the third game 4-1, Farhan shook hands and quit the game.
Fourth seed Tayyab Aslam took a sweet revenge of his last loss when he accounted for fifth seed Farhan Mehboob after the latter excused for cramps trailing two games down and 1-4 in the third on the penultimate day to advance into the final in just 16-minutes.
In the second semifinal, Farhan Zaman was too good for Israr Ahmed as the former Pakistan No 1 Zaman took the match 3-0 by following his straight 14-12, 11-6, 11-7 triumph over sixth seed Israr Ahmed in 38-minutes.
After the tough battle today Farhan will face second seed Farhan Zaman in the title clash at 3:30pm.
Meanwhile, Zafar sisters top seed Faiza and second seed Madina set a title clash after winning their semi-finals in contrasting styles.
While Faiza whipped qualifier Komal Khan 11-6, 11-5, 11-0 in 14-minutes, the latter survived scare after her eighth seed opponent Riffat Khan retired hurt in the fifth and decisive game. Madina won 3-11, 6-11, 11-6, 12-10, 7-2 (retired) in 37-minutes.
Farhan Zaman and Faiza annexed men’s and women’s respective titles in Circuit I while Madina emerged victorious in Circuit II.
