Defending champion Naseem, Haris shines in IBSF world under-18 snooker championship
Pakistan’s Mohammad Naseem Akhtar and Asian U-21 silver medalist Haris Tahir continued their winning streak as they move into quarterfinal rounds of the IBSF world under-18 snooker championship in Jinan, China.
Akhtar demolished England cueist Sean McAllister by 4-1 (31-66, 74-21, 77-25, 69-50, 79-10) to justify his credentials. The Englishman had defeated Yun Fung Tam of Hong Kong 3-2 in the last-24 round earlier in the day.
Tahir, meanwhile, conceded two frames while registering 4-2 victory over Japan’s Keishin Kamihashi (34-53, 81-38, 88-30, 69-62, 11-50, 84-27) to join Akhtar in the last eight.
At the time of filing this report, Akhtar was engaged against Peifan Lei of China while Tahir was up against Yisong Peng, also from China, in the quarter-finals.
