Squash Juniors shine on opening day of Borneo Junior Open, Malaysia

Hasnain Syed, Noor Zaman, Mohammad Ammad, Hamza khan and Yasin Khattak defeated their respective opponents to move into pre quarterfinal round of 4th CMS Borneo Junior Open 2018 at Sarawak Squash Center, Sarawak, Malaysia.

The 4TH CMS Borneo Junior Open 2018 is an ASF “Gold’ event organized by Squash Racquets Association Sarawak (SRAS), sanctioned by Asian Squash Federation (ASF) and Squash Racquets Association of Malaysia (SRAM) as part of the Asian Junior Super Series Event. It is an AJSS event and junior participants will receive ASF ranking points. The championship comprises Boys & Girls under 11, 13, 15, 17 and 19 events in which six Pakistani players are participating. 

In the under-13 event, Yasin Khattak trashed Sarvintirran Parthiban of Malaysia in a straight games by 3-0.The ninth seed Pakistani player won the first game with the margin of 5 points. In the next game, the young Yasin didn’t allowed Malaysia player to score a single point as he played marvelously to win the game by 11-0. Sarvintirran tried hard to win the last game but the match ended in Pakistan’s favor by 11-5. Yasin Khattak will now face top seed Tay Jun Qian of Malaysia tomorrow (21 june) at 7:30 am in the pre-quarterfinal round.

In second round of under-15 event Noor Zaman, Syed Hasnain , Ammad Mohammad and 2nd seed Hamza khan defeated their opponents in straight games to book their berth in the pre quarterfinal round.

Round one of the under-15 event was played earlier in the day where Syed Hasnain defeated Roslan Aiman Hakim by 11-1 11-7 11-2 , Noor Zaman defeated Lau Caleb by 11-6 11-9 15-13 while Ammad Mohammad and Hamza khan got bye in the first round.
