Zafar, Shan lead SSGC to win in Naya Nazimabad Ramadan Cup

Test opener Shan Masood and spinner Zafar Gohar of SSGC began their campaign in Naya Nazimabad Ramazan Cup T20 cricket tournament with a 35-run victory over Brighto Paints at the Lawai Cricket Stadium, Karachi.

Shan, who missed selection for the ongoing tour of Ireland and England because of knee injury, smashed a dazzling 80 and left armer Zafar captured five wickets while guiding their team to success at the Lawai Cricket Stadium. 

SSGC, batting first, charged to a healthy 212-6. The tall Shan continued his brilliant touch as he bludgeoned nine fours and five sixes in his 40-ball contribution.

Adil Amin also stood out with a brilliant 78 off 48 deliveries and added 108 for the second wicket with Shan.

Usama Mir then hit a quickfire 20 off only six balls with the aid of three sixes.


Left-arm paceman Mohammad Ashraf bowled superbly to claim three wickets for 28 runs in his four overs.

Brighto Paints, who are making their debut in the event, were bowled out for 177 in 19.5 overs with opener Usman Nazir blasting five sixes and three boundaries in a 31-ball knock of 54.

Zeeshan Ashraf made a fighting 43 from 31 balls with four boundaries and two sixes.

Zafar bagged the first five-for in the current tournament as he finished with five wickets for 24 runs in a performance that saw him share the man-of-the-match prize with Shan Masood.
