Aisam-Julian second best in Barcelona Open
Defending champion Aisam ul Haq with Dutch partner Jean Julian Rojer become runners-up as Spaniard Feliciano Lopez and Marc Lopez won the title of Barcelona Open men’s doubles tournament.
Spanish Feliciano Lopez and Marc Lopez defeated the Pak-Dutch duo in straight sets by 7-6(5), 6-4. It was Aisam’s first final appearance in the ongoing year where he remains the runner-up in the final of Barcelona Open.
Earlier this year, Aisam reached the quarterfinal stage of Australian Open while he also played the quarterfinal of Dubai Open tennis tournament.
Aisam had won the Barcelona Open doubles title in 2017 with his Romanian partner Florin Mergea and returned with Dutch Jean Julian Roger who ranked on the 9th at the ATP rankings.
Aisam-Roger breezes into the final of Barcelona Open as the duo edges out Guido Pella and Nicolas Jarry 7-6, 3-6, 10-7 in the semifinals of the tournament.
In the first set, the match was leveled on 6-6 as both the pairs held their serves. On tiebreak Spaniards breaks the 6th serve to take firm grip over the match by 4-2 and later did not allow Aisam-Rojer to break any service and won the first set by 7-6(5).
Pak-Dutch duo lost the opening serve of second set as Feliciano Lopez and Marc Lopez took full control over the match and won the final by 7-6(5), 6-4 and takes the title of Barcelona Open tennis tournament.
For winning the title, Spaniards receive 500 ATP doubles ranking points and share €162,940 prize money while Aisam and Dutch partner Rojer gained 300 ATP doubles rankings points and shares €79,770 between them.
