Aisam-Julian seals men’s doubles semifinal berth of ATP 500 Barcelona Open
Aisam ul haq with his Dutch partner Jean-Julien Rojer ousted top seeded doubles Polish-Brazilian pair of Lukasz Kubot and Marcelo Melo by 7-5, 3-6, 10-5 in the quarterfinal of ATP Barcelona Open tennis tournament.
In the first set, both the teams started the match attentively as they held their serves as the scores leveled at 5-5. Aisam and Rojers came back from 30:0 down in the 11th serve of Lukasz and Marcelo to make it 6-5 in their favor, and won their own 12th serve to win the first set by 7-5.
In the second set, Aisam and partner got the early break when they broke the second serve of Polish-Brazilian pair, only to lose the advantage in the very next game to level at 2-2. Lukasz and Marcelo then broke the 8th serve of set to make it 5-3 proceeding it with a comfortable hold at 6-3 and leveling the match at 1-1.
In the super set, both pairs started the set watchfully and held their early serves but Polish-Brazilian pair breaks the 5th serve to make it 3-2 but Aiam-Julian broke back the 6th serve to level the score at 3-3.
At 3-4, Aisam-Julian took six consecutive points including 2 back-to-back breaks on 10th and 11th serve to take a commanding lead of 9-4 and closing the set and match at 10-5 against the top seeded doubles pair to seal the semifinal berth of ATP 500 Barcelona Open Tennis Tournament.
