Hazara United lifts Karachi Intra-City Football Championship
Hazara United won the Karachi Inter-city Football Championship and breezes into the Leisure Leagues National Football Championship.
Hazara United outshined 16-Start Football Club in a thrilling final that was finished in the sudden death at Ansar Union Football ground. During the regulation time match was held in a draw where none of the team scored any goal despite several attempts were made from both sides in the summit clash.
Match then entered into the penalty shootout which was ended into draw as both the sides scored three goals each out of the stipulated five attempts and later in the sudden deaths, Hazara United emerged as victorious in the all-important final match.
11 teams participated in Karachi Intra-City championship and winning the event takes Hazara United into the forthcoming eight-team Leisure Leagues National Football Championship. The national finals are scheduled to be held in the first week of May in Karachi.
Other then Hazara United, ICWA Football Club (FC) from Lahore, Red Devils from Islamabad, Sherof FC from Quetta, FC Thunderbolts from Hyderabad, Shiekh 7 FC from Mardan, Akram Shaheed FC from Qila Saifullah and Shinwari FC from Peshawar have also qualified for the Leisure Leagues National Football Championship.
Meanwhile, each of the 11 teams that qualified for the Karachi Intra-City tournament were champions of different leagues, earlier organized by Leisure Leagues on different occasions. Out of the 11 teams, five lucky teams got the chance to directly qualify for the quarterfinals. The remaining six teams had to play pre-quarterfinals. All of the 11 teams were present when the draws were opened.
