Pakistan to participate in South Asian Junior Athletics Championship
12 member squad of Pakistan will participate in the upcoming South Asian Junior Athletics Championship to be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
South Asian Junior Athletics Championship will start from 5th May in Sri Lanka where 12 member squad of Pakistan to participate in the event, Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) has announced.
President Athletic Federation of Pakistan Major General (R) Muhammad Akram while talking to media has said that Chaudhry Iqbal Akhtar will be group leader while coaches Qazi Tanveer and Simi Rizvi will also accompany the team.
8 men Muhammad Wasim, Muhammad Hamza, Hassan Raza, Muhammad Shahzad, Younis Waqar, Moeed Baloch, Abdul Razaq and Ghulam Mohiuddin and four women Tahreem, Esha, Saqa and Noorul Ameen are the part of 12 member squad.
Pakistani men will participate in six competitions that include 100 metres, 200 metres, 400 metres race, 4X400 Relay, 4X400 Relay race and disk throw while female athletes will also contest three events 100 metres, 200 metres race and 4X400 Relay race, he said.
Training camp for the upcoming Athletic Championship is underway at Jinnah Stadium Islamabad under the supervision of head coach Muhammad Asghar Gill while three other coaches Rana Sajjad, Bushra Perveen and Semi Rizvi, are also giving training to men and women players. The team will fly on May 4 to Sri Lanka. The championship will continue for two days, he concluded.
