Karachi retains the title of Sindh Games
Reigning Champions Karachi grabbed the My Kolachi Trophy as they secured a whopping 126 gold medals to win the 17th Sindh Games at Karachi.
Port city retains the title of the 4-day long Sindh games for straight 17th time with 126 gold, 36 silver and 16 bronze medals. The event was concluded in a colorful closing ceremony held at PSB Coaching Center, Karachi.
Hyderabad grabbed the second spot with 15 gold, 61 silver and 46 bronze while Sukkur ended on third with 12 gold, 20 silver and 51 bronze. Mirpurhhas remains fourth with 7 gold, 18 silver and 43 bronze followed by Shaheed Benazirabad with 6 gold, 11 silver and 39 bronze while Larkana finished on 6th position with 4 gold, 25 silver and 24 bronze.
Karachi Won 81 gold, 24 silver and 12 bronze in the men’s competitions followed by Sukkue with 11 gold, 14 silver and 29 bronze, Hyderabad 7 gold, 32 silver and 31 bronze, Mirpurkhas 5 gold, 13 silver, and 29 bronze, Larkana (4 gold, 21 silver, and 20 bronze.
Karachi again led the women competitions as they secured 45 gold, 12 silver and 04 bronze medals followed by Hyderabad with 8 gold, 29silver and 15 bronze, Mirpurkhas 2 gold, 5 silver and 14 bronze, Sukkur 1 gold, 6 silver and 22 bronze, Larkano 4 silver and 4 gold and Shaheed Benazirabad 1 silver and 8 bronze.
Chief Minister Sindh, Murad Ali Shah was the chief guest during the closing ceremony as he handed over the trophies to the winning sides. Shaheed Benazirabad received the fair-play trophy.
Esha from Karachi was declared best female athlete for taking 5 gold medals while Arbab Tanoli of Karachi remained the best male athlete for clinching 2 gold and a silver medal in athletics. Esha was also picked for the national junior side that will feature in South Asian junior Championship to be held in Colombo early next month.
Flag was later handed over to Larkana which will host the 18th edition of Sindh games.
Men competed in 29 while women participated in 17 disciplines. Karachi won titles of 22 disciplines in men’s events. Larkana won the titles in T20 cricket and weightlifting, Sukkur bagged the crown in kodi kodi, malh, shooting ball and wanjhwatti, while Hyderabad wins the wrestling event.
Karachi swept all the 17 titles in female competitions. Karachi also won both the men and women ju-jitsu events. In men’s events Karachi (50 points) claimed five gold, Hyderabad secured second (23 points) with one silver and three bronze. Larkana ended on third (21 points) with two silver and one bronze.
Karachi topped the women’s competitions too with 53 points which they secured through four gold, one silver and one bronze. Hyderabad (49 points) gave tough time to Karachi, got second with two gold, three silver and one bronze. Sukkur wrapped-up the journey with 23 points which they got through one silver and three bronze.
