Pak win silver, bronze South Asian Junior Table Tennis Championship
Pakistan won silver and three bronze medals in the different team events of South Asian Junior and Cadet Table Tennis Championship held in Maldives.
Pakistan table tennis team participated in the South Asian Junior and Cadet Table Tennis Championship where Pakistani players secured 1 silver and 3 bronze medals in the event.
Pakistan won the silver in Hopes Boys singles event while it wins 1 bronze each in Junior Boys team event, Cadet boys team event and Junior Boys doubles event.
South Asian Junior and Cadet Championship is the most competitive tournament played in the region and it was held in the Maldives for the first time this year. Athletes under 18 years of age played in junior category, under 15 players performed in the cadet category while children under the age of 12 performed in the newly introduced 'hopes' category.
Six countries including Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal and hosts Maldives participated in the tournament.
It is to be mention here that seven Pakistani table tennis players participated in the event that includes Ubaid Shah, Faizan Zahoor, Saad Nadeem, Shah Khan, Umam- Khawaja, Sohaib and Umar along. Three officials, Manager Shahid Balouch, Coach Khalid Mahmood and President Pakistan Table Tennis Federation (PTTF) Khawaja Hassan Wadood were representing the country in the Hopes event.
