Karachi dominates day 1 of Sindh Games
Hosts Karachi dominates the medal table on the day 1 of ongoing 17th edition of Sindh Games while Hyderabad secured second spot in the games played at different venues of Karachi.
Karachi is hosting the Sindh games for the fifth time since its inception in 1986 and the hosts dominate the day one of the games. It was observed in the previous games that Karachi had upper hand followed by Hyderabad on the medal table.
Karachi on the day one of the games in men and women track and field events held at coaching center tartan track won four gold and a silver medal and got the lead over opponents. Hyderabad at the end of day one secured one gold, two silver in track and field events and remained second.
Mohammad Akram grabbed the gold in 800m while Arbab Tanilo won the gold in 5,000 race, Naheedullah seized gold in shot out event, Sherish Qayyum and Ayesha Yaseen picked gold and silver in women’s 800m race respectively.
Hina Rafiq made Hyderabad proud by winning the first gold of the games in any women’s event. She got gold in shot put event by throwing metallic iran ball to 8.64 meters. Her sibling Sana Rafiq bagged the silver (8.31) while Hina Moin of Karachi (8.04) got the bronze.
Larkana outplayed Mirpur Khas on penalty shootout in the men’s hockey played at Abdul Sattar Edhi Hockey stadium as the match was ties in two-all during the regulation time.
Shaheed Benazirabd defeated Mirpur Khas by 2-0 in another match.
