Sindh Games: Karachi makes into semi final of T20 event
Karachi earned two easy victories to qualify for the semifinals of inaugural T20 cricket discipline in the 17th edition of Sindh Games.
In the morning Group A fixture against Mirpur Khas at TMC ground, Karachi outplayed Mirpur Khas by a huge margin of 180 runs. All-rounder Danish Aziz helps Karachi to post a big total of 239-8 in 20 overs against Mirpur Khas with bat as he played a glittering innings of 72 runs with the help of 8 boundaries and 4 sixes. Usman scored 70 runs with 11 fours and a six and Ahmed Bin Nasir contributed 41 runs. Shaban Malik took three wickets while Abid Nazeer got 2 wickets for Mirpur Khas.
Karachi wrapped up the innings of Mirpur Khas on just 59 runs in 11.5 overs to win the match by 180 runs. Shawal with 23 runs remained the top runs scorer from Mirpur Khas while fast bowler Mohammad Ali claimed 5 wickets for 11 runs while Abdul Wahid got 3 wickets for 13 runs for Karachi.
Karachi in the afternoon played with the same pace against Benazirabad and thrashed them by 8 wickets. Batting first, Benazirabad managed to score 152 runs in 20 overs. Kashif Bhatti 40, Haris Khan 39, Shahzad Haider 24 were top scorers for Benazirabad. Danish Aziz grabbed 2 wickets for Karachi.
In reply, Karachi chased down the target in 11 overs for the loss of 2 wickets to win the match by 8 wickets. Danish Aziz scores 71 while Usman Javed remained unbeaten on 55 runs and Zakir Malik added 22 runs.
In Group B’ first match at the RLCA Gulberg Ground, Larkana defeated Hyderabad by a handsome eight-wicket margin with Shamsuddin completing a fine all-round performance. After grabbing three wickets for 23 runs, Shamsuddin banged 73 that included six fours and five sixes as Larkana reached their target of 125 in 16.5 overs.
However, Hyderabad later recovered their poise as they annihilated Sukkur by 10 wickets.
Mohammad Aqeel hit 59 (five fours and three sixes) to help Sukkur post 172-4 before opener Naimatullah bludgeoned 108 off only 58 deliveries with the aid of nine boundaries and six sixes as Hyderabad raced to 173-0 in 17.1 overs. Uzair Jafri scored 52 (four fours and one six).
Two league-round matches are scheduled to be played today while the semi-finals will be played on Saturday and the gold medal match on Sunday.
