Hosts Karachi secures first Gold in Sindh Games
17th edition of Sindh Games started in Karachi today where the hosts bagged first gold in the opening day of the games.
Torch relay kicked off at Quaid's mosulaoeum where Sindh Sports Minister Mohammed Bux Khan formally initiated the ceremony.
Athlete Moeed Baloch who earlier created a new record in the 200 meter race as he finishes in 21.96 seconds by beating his own previous record of 22.50 seconds carried the torch from the Quaid's mausoleum to Pakistan Sports Board in Karachi.
Sindh Minister for Sports Mohammad Bux Khan in his speech assured that administration is working to improve all the conditions for athletes.
Arbab Tanoli of Karachi grabbed Gold medal in the 5000 meter race while Mohib Ullah of Sukkar secured silver and Haderabad’s Ahmed Khan earned Bronze medal.
Karachi won another gold as Akram wins the 800-meter race while Hyderabad’s Hassan got the silver medal and Karachi’s Imam Majeed claimed the bronze.
Mirourkhas defeated Sukkur by 9-5 while Larkana outplayed Benazirabad 9-2 in the men’s netball event. Whereas Benazirabad won against Sukkur by 2-0 while Mirpurkhas ousted Larkana 6-0 in the Women’s netball event.
The games will be held on 15 different venues of the city. Around 3000 athletes and six divisions of Sindh are taking part in the games. Total 30 games will be hosted for males while females will be showcasing their talent in 17 events in the next four days.
