First National Weightlifting championship to start in Lahore
Inaugural edition of Chief Executive Pakistan Railways Gold Cup National Weightlifting Championship is all set to start from April 15 at Railway Stadium, Lahore.
Parveen Agha Chairperson Pakistan Railway to inaugurate the first ever Gold Cup National Weightlifting Championship where leading teams from all over Pakistan will take part in the event, Sheikh Muhammad Anwar, Organizing Secretary of the event said while talking to the media.
“The competition will help to promote the game in the country while it also helps to get new talent,” he said. Weightlifters from WAPDA, Pakistan Army, Police, Higher Education Commission, Islamabad, Punjab, Sindh, KPK and hosts Railways will display their weightlifting abilities in the event. Pakistan Railway is the main sponsor of the event to uplift the event to find new talent, he added.
He said all the arrangements were finalized in a meeting, which was attended by Secretary Pakistan Weightlifting Federation, Amjad Amin Butt and other officials to hold the event in a befitting manner.
Sheikh Anwar said two medal holder weightlifters of the ongoing Common Wealth Game in Gold Cost, Australia , Mohammad Nooh and Talha Talib will also be featuring in the event and their presence will be a big inspiration for the other participants besides making the event a historic competition.
