Mahoor Shahzad moves into Badminton Pre-Quaterfinals in Gold Coast
Mahoor Shahzad move into the Round-of-16 after defeating Cristen Marritt from Isle of Man by 2-0 in Women's Singles Badminton Round of 32 in the XXI Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, Australia.
In women’s Singles Round of 32, Pakistani Badminton player Mahoor Shahzad defeated Cristen Marritt of Isle-of-Man in a one sided encounter by 2-0 and confirm her place in Women's Singles Badminton pre-quaterfinal.
In the first game, Mahoor made a confident start as she took the lead from beginning by scoring 4 consecutive opening points against the twenty-eight years old Cristen. Mahoor engaged Cristen in long rallies and capitalized on soft opportunities as she maintained her lead throughout the game to win it by 21-14 in 14 minutes.
Mahoor continued her winning approach in the second game also and gave the opponent no opportunity to execute her game. Twenty-one years old Mahoor took early lead at 6-1 and maintained the points advantage to seal the game and match by 21-10 in 16 minutes.
Mahoor will now play Rachel Honderich of Canada tomorrow in the round of 16. The match will be played at 14:30 (PST) on 12th April, 2018.
