Pakistan hold Malaysia to 1-1 draws in Gold Coast Hockey

Pakistan and Malaysia played out an entertaining 1-1 draw in Gold Coast Hockey Centre in XXI Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, Australia.

On the seventh day of Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, a thrilling fixture was played between Pakistan and Malaysia where both the teams showed marvelous performance but match ended at 1-1 draw.   

In the 9th minute of first quarter, Shafqat Rasool opened the score line for the game with a beautiful field goal for Pakistan and took the 1-0 lead but in the second quarter, both the two sides got a couple of back to back penalty corners but no one avail and it remained 1-0.

In the 39th minute of third quarter, Ramadan Rosli of Malaysia equalized the score but in first minute of the fourth quarter saw Pakistan waste another penalty corner. With less than three minute left, Pakistani head coach Oeltmans replaced the goal keeper with an outfield player but it remained 1-1 till the end of the match as no goal was scored in the last quarter of the game.

From Pool B, India and England have secured their berth in the semi-finals of the competition. After failing to record a win, Pakistan hockey team who drew all four of their group matches so far, is out of the race for medals along with Malaysia. Now Pakistan will play for the 7th/8th position match on Friday (13 April) in the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, Australia.
