Muzaffarabad to host Kashmir Super t20 League
First ever edition of Kashmir Super t20 League to be held in Muzaffarabad from 28th April to 12th May at Muzaffarabad Cricket stadium.
It was stated by Chairman Kashmir Super League (KPL) Masood Ahmed Khan in a press conference in Islamabad. He said that six teams to take part in the inaugural edition of KPL in and 4 national players to participate in every team.
“We have submitted a formal request to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the conduct of KPL through Azad Kashmir Cricket Association” he said. Co-chairman KPL Kashif Javed and Zulfiqar Ali were also present on the occasion. “We have successfully held Muzaffarabad Super League last year in which a number of Pakistani players took part and from this year we are going to organize a new tournament ‘Kashmir Super t20 League’, the chairman added.
Six teams taking part in the competition are:
- Muzaffarabad Qalandars
- Bagh Badshah
- Kotli Lions
- Rawalakot Warriors
- Mirpur Tigers
- MK Fighters
Twelve players have agreed to take part in the league including Mohammad Irfan, Rahat Ali, Zulfiqar Babar, Aamir Yameen, Gulraiz Sadaf, Agha Salman and we are in talks with 12 more players, Masood Ahmed Khan added.
We have requested to Azad Kashmir Cricket Association (AKCA) to get approval from PCB for the league so that national players can perform in-front of local crowed. Prime Minister AJK and President AKCA have promised to provide all the facilities for the KSL.
Winners of the tournament will get Rs.20, 00, 000 while the runners-up will receive Rs.10, 00, 000 cash prize while a bike will be given to the spectators through lucky draw who will take a clean catch, he added.
He also gave the reference of t20 event which was conducted by Lahore Qalandars last year and said “we are hopeful we will be able to set another good precedent for the local crowed”. Drafting of the players will held on 17th April in which a big number of local and national players will be selected for the tournament. Chairman added.
“Anti-corruption unit is already formed to secure the event while players will be provided fool-proof security in the even”. Answering a question he said, spectators will get the tickets from Rs. 100 to Rs. 1000 through banks and ticket booth outside the stadium.
“We will invite chairman PCB as chief guest for the closing ceremony while Prime Minister AJK, Sports Minster and President AKCA applauded the efforts to hold the league and through the successful conduct of the league, we will be able to uncover the hidden talent of AJK before the world, Masood Ahmed Khan concluded.
