Pakistani weightlifter Nooh Dastgir seals Bronze in Commonwealth Games 2018
Pakistani weightlifter Muhammad Nooh Dastgir Butt grabs bronze medal in weightlifting with total 395 kg weight in Gold Coast Commonwealth Games at Carrara Sports Arena 1, Gold Coast Australia.
Muhammad Nooh Dastgir Butt won the bronze medal in the +105kg weightlifting category on the fifth day of Commonwealth Games. In first attempt Nooh lifted 173kg weight in snatch while in second and third attempts he went for 177 kg but unfortunately could not succeed in either attempt. In Clean & Jerk (kg) he lifted 222 kg in his first attempt while in second and third attempts he went for 228 and 231kg to top the charts but could not finish it clearly. Nooh ended with a total weight of 395kg.
Overall thirteen weightlifters participated in 105kg weight event where David Liti of New Zealand secured the first place with 403 kg weight while Lauititi Lui of Samoa stood second and Nooh of Pakistan secured the third spot with 395 kg and made the Junior Commonwealth record.
Its the second Bronze Medal for Pakistan in weightlifting category in Gold Coast 2018 commonwealth games as Talha Talib won the first bronze medal for Pakistan in 62 Kg weightlifting event.
Twenty years old weightlifter Muhammad Nooh Dastgir Butt hails from Gujranwala where he works at GEPCO WAPDA (Electric Power Company). Nooh won a gold medal in junior category competition of Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship last year, and bagged silver in the senior events of the same category by lifting 389kg. He has also won a bronze medal in Commonwealth championships at Penang, Malaysia in 2016, and in Pune, India in 2015.
