KBBC seals the final berth of Pakistan Day basketball tournament
Karachi Basketball Club (KBBC) outshines Nishtar club in the second eliminator to qualify for the final of the Pakistan Day basketball tournament at the former’s floodlit court, Karachi.
KBBC had a blend of young and experienced players in their ranks and they defeated Nishtar club by 89-74 to win the match. They will face off against Askari Club in the final of Pakistan Day basketball tournament.
Askari club topped the five-match league and they also outsmarted league runners-up KBBC in the qualifier.
KBBC were down in the first quarter as they were 17-22 but then they roared back and there was no stopping for them and they dominated the entire match till the end. KBBC won the second quarter against NIshtar Club by 29-18 convincingly and lead 46-40 at the halftime.
They started the third quarter with the same momentum and won it by 20-15 and last quarter by 23-19 to win the match by 89-74 comprehensively.
Veteran player Sultan Habib grabbed 20 points which envisaged five three-pointers for KBBC. Raj Kumar also bagged 20 points and that includes two three-pointers. Engr Zain-ul-Abedin added 11 with 3 three pointers while experienced Ashraf Yayha delighted with three three-pointers.
Nishtar club who were in good form during the league stage and in eliminator, could not repeat their good form as Talha Amjad remained their top scorer with 27 including 1 three pointer followed by Asad Ali with 16. His score includes three three-pointers while Hamza contributed six.
