Pakistan to take Uzbekistan in Davis Cup Tie
Pakistan will be playing against second seed Uzbekistan in the Asia-Oceania Group-I Davis cup match on April 6 and 7 in Islamabad.
Twice, the two teams faced each other where the record falls in favor of Uzbekistan who won the previous both occasions in 1996 and 1999 while both the teams to take each other for the third time in Islamabad after a gap of 19 years. Pakistani team is confident to turn the table and book their place in the next round.
The newly implemented three-set format of the tournament favors Pakistan as they also got the home advantage as well. The matches will be played on grass courts which is more suitable surface for Pakistani players.
Pakistan team is based on country’s top ranked players Aisam ul Haq Qureshi, Aqeel Khan and targeting to bring the cup home. Aisam and Aqeel played a major role to beat Korea 4-0 and the duo hopes to continue their form and rhythm.
Apart from the veteran players, young Heera Ashiq, Shahzad Khan and resilient Muzammil Murtaza are also the part of the team and Mohammed Khalid is nominated as the captain of Pakistani team. According to Aqeel Khan, the tie will be a challenge for us but Pakistan are up for it.
