Babar helps Pakistan to sweep Windies t20 series
Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman and Hussain Talat steers Pakistan to white wash Windies in the 3 match t20 series played at National Cricket Stadium Karachi.
In the 3rd and last t20 match, West Indian skipper after winning the toss decided to bat first on a batting friendly wicket. Once again the start is not impressive as they lost first wicket only on 2 runs but Andre Fletcher and Marlon Samuels helped Windies to get out of situation as they added 72 runs for the second wicket.
As Samuels departed, Pakistan tightens the grip on the match until Denesh Ramdin came to the middle as he played a blistering knock of 42 runs in just 18 balls with 4 boundaries and 3 sixes and helped Windies to post a competitive total of 153/6 in allotted 20 overs.
Andre Fletcher 52, Denesh Ramdin 42 and Marlon Samuels 31 were top runs buyers for West Indies. Shadab Khan got 2 while Mohammad Nawaz, Usman Khan and Faheem Ashraf got 1 wicket each for Pakistan. Debutant Shaheen Afridi remained unlucky to take any wicket in his first match.
In reply, Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam provided Pakistan a blazing start as they contributed 62 runs for the first wicket in just 5.2 overs. Fakhar played a cameo of 17 balls 40 runs. Hussain Talat was next to join Babar and the duo added 52 for the second wicket as Babar departs after completing his half century on 51 runs. Asif Ali next came to the middle and along with Hussain Talat completed runs chase in 16.5 overs for the loss of just 2 wickets to win the match by 8 wickets and completed the clean sweep over West Indies.
Pakistan won the seventh successive t20 series in Sarfraz Ahmed’s captaincy and becomes the only team to sweeps series 3 times in the t20 history. Babar Azam, 51, Fakhar Zaman 40, Hussain talat 31 not out and Asif Ali unbeaten 25 were the top scorers for Pakistan. Rayad Emrit and Odean Smith picked 1 wicket each for Windies. Although West Indies team lost the t20 series but won the hearts of Pakistan especially won the hearts of People of Karachi and helped Pakistan to revive cricket in its own home grounds.
Fakhar Zaman received the Man of the match award while Babar Azam was given Man of the series award.
