Dukki beat Quetta to lift PPL Balochistan Football Cup title
Dukki after edging out Quetta on penalty kicks in the final of PPL Balochistan Cup won the title at Sadiq Shaheed Football Stadium (Malibagh), Quetta.
During the regulation time, none of the teams were able to show their supremacy as the encounter was leveled on 1-1 between the underdogs Dakki and giants Quetta.
Both the teams made some intense moves during the allotted time but managed to score 1 goal each and after both the teams were given 5 penalties followed by running penalties. Underdogs, Dukki suppressed favourites Quetta on their home ground by 6-5.
A lot of new players were given the chance to play and showcase their talent in-front of a massive crowd. In 2017, Panjgur emerged as champions in the tournament.
Mir Sarfaraz Ahmed Bugti Balochistan Minister for Home and Tribal Affairs was chief guest on the occasion while Deputy Managing Director PPL, M Rafiq Vohra, Chairman Organising Committee PPL Balochistan Football Cup 2018 and Vice President Pakistan Football Federation, Sardar Naveed Haider Khan along with other officials and area notables, tournament ambassadors and media personnel were present on the occasion.
At the end of the match, chief guest along with other dignitaries presented trophies and awards to the winner and runner-up as well as outstanding players.
The tournament was held between February 17 to March 30th where 80 matches were played between the 38 teams and around 700 players took part from all over the provincial divisions. Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) provided incentives, including sports kits, prizes, traveling allowances to the players of all the teams. PPL also invested in renovation of football grounds where these matches have been played.
