Hard work payoffs: Asif, Talat and Shaheen picked for WI T20 series

Uncapped Pakistani players Asif Ali, Husain Talat and Shaheen Afridi registered strong performances in PSL and called-up for national side for upcoming T20 series against West Indies to be played in Karachi.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the 15 member team for upcoming three match t20 series against West Indies to be played at National Cricket Stadium Karachi. Hussain Talat, Asif Ali and Shaheen Shah Afridi were the players got the chance to represent the national side for the first time whereas left-arm pacers Rahat Ali and Usman Khan also registered a comeback in national side.

Imad Wasim and Rumman Raees missed out as they were failed to recover from their injuries. Imad carried a concussion after his head hits into the ground after taking a catch while Rumman damaged his knee ligaments as he was trying to stop the ball on the boundary. Ahmed Shahzad retained his place and Shoaib Malik who suffered with concussion during the New Zealand series also came back.

The trio were standout performers for their teams in PSL3. Hussain Talat came out victorious in under-pressure situations in PSL while Asif’s quick fire 26 in the final match helps Islamabad United to win the title while Laft Arm 17 years old Qalandar’s pacer Shaheen Afridi took five-for against Multan Sultans and inspired Mickey Arthur as he compared him to the young Mitchell Starc.

The series to be played three consecutive days on April 1, 2 and 3. All matches are scheduled to be played at the same venue which recently hosted the PSL-3 Final. It will be the first international match in Karachi since 2009 and first ever T20 international to be played at the stadium.
