Peshawar to host National Amateur Golf Championship

The 57th National Amateur Ranking Golf Championship to be held in Peshawar after a gap of 25 years at the lush green Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Golf Course from March 29.

Joint Secretary Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF) Dr. Ali Haider while talking to the media disclosed the details of the event and said that PGF is holding the biggest event of the calendar year where leading amateur golfers of the country would participate.

International golfer Major Arshad Mehmood, PGF executive committee member, KP Golf Association secretary Lt Col Imtinan Qazmi and national golfer Akbar Qayyum Bukhari were also present on the occasion and thanked President PGF Lt Gen Hilal for organizing the prestigious event in Peshawar.

During the media talk, Dr. Ali Haider said that “We are trying to engage international golfers for the event and we are in contact with some leading golfer”.

He added that event consisted of three categories inter-provincial team, seniors and ladies amateurs. Around 220 golfers would participate in the championship where around 120 amateur golfers would compete in the main event while 75 in the seniors and 35 would participate in ladies event.

He further said the championship is being organized in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after a long gap of 25 years. “National team would be selected after the event which will represent Pakistan in the upcoming Asian Golf Championship to be held in Japan”, he concluded.
