Pakistan humbles Philippines in Asian Squash Championship
Pakistan trashed Philippines by 3-0 in the men 1st pool match of the 19th Asian Squash Team Championship at Cheongju International Squash Stadium, Korea from 21 – 25 March.
The 19th Asian Squash Team championship is organized by Korea Squash Federation at the Cheongju International Squash Stadium, Korea. In Men’s event, Pakistan has been placed in Pool-B with hosts Korea, Philippines and Sri Lanka whereas in Women’s event, Pakistan is in Pool-A with Hong Kong, Korea, Sri Lanka and Thailand.
In Men’s 1st Pool match, Pakistan defeated Philippines in a one sided encounter by 3-0. Farhan Zaman played well in all the sets of the game as he displayed superb back and fore hand shots to leave opponent helpless in all the sets as Farhan outplayed Robert Andrew with a score line of 12-10, 11-6, 11-7 in 30 minutes.
Tayyab Aslam showed outstanding performance as he defeated David Williams by 11-6, 11-5, and 11-4 in just 20 minutes. Amaad Fareed defeated Reymark Begornia with a score line of 11-4, 11-5, and 11-5 after 17 minutes struggle.
In Women’s 1st Pool match, Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan by 2-0. Fothoum Issadeen outplayed Riffat Khan by 11-4, 8-11, 13-11 and 11-8 while Mihiliya Methsarani defeated Madina Zafar by 11-8, 11-7, and 11-6.
