Gwadar shocks Chaman, through to semifinals of Balochistan Football Cup
Gwadar outplayed strong Chaman in a thrilling encounter to book the semifinal seat in the ongoing PPL Balochistan Football Cup at Sadiq Shaheed Football Stadium (Malibagh), Quetta.
The first quarterfinal was played between Gwadar and favorites Chaman City in which Gwadar defeated strong opponents by 1-0 to reserve their seat for the semifinal. Sohaib netted the ball only once in the second half of the match as Gwadar thrashed Chaman City by 1-0. Chaman City played hard for the equalizer but the strong defense line of Gwadar could not allow Chaman attackers to enter the goal area of Gwadar.
Earlier, in two other matches DFA Chaman defeated hard and skilled team of Dukki by 1-0 in another thrilling encounter while Kharan easily routed Kacchi by 4-1 in a one-sided match as both the teams have qualified for the quarterfinals of the tournament. Both the matches were played at Malibagh ground Quetta. Mohammad Hanif from DFA Chaman and Mohammad Kaseem of Kharan were declared man of the matches for scoring goals in their respective matches.
Defending champions Panjgur to play against Kharan while Quetta City to face DFA Quetta and Dukki to challenge DFA Chaman respectively in the quart finals.
