Pakistan to host West Indies in Karachi for T20 series
Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board Najam Sethi confirms West Indies visit to Pakistan in April 2018 for three T20 international.
Najam Sethi in a press conference has said that West Indian cricket board has decided to send its team to Pakistan early next month and that will be positive step towards reviving international cricket in Pakistan.
As Pakistan hosted Zimbabwe for 2 T20 and 3 ODI’s in 2015 followed by PSL final last year, then visit of world XI and Sri Lankan team helped us to convince West Indies, and they have confirmed the series, he added.
He also announced a good news for Karachi that West Indies to play 3 T20 international matches in Karachi on April 1,2 and 4.
West Indies won the T20 World cup in 2016 in India and they are reigning champions and their visit to Pakistan will help us to convince more teams to visit Pakistan, Sathi added.
Earlier, Lahore was the declared venue for West Indies tour but PCB got encouragement to host international sides other then Lahore after the international security experts declared Karachi a safe city.
Karachi to host PSL-3 final on 25th March 2018 followed by West Indian team visit while Lahore to hosts two play-off matches on March 20 and 21. That’s how we intent to add more venues back on cricket map once again. Chairman said.
It is pertinent to mention here that Karachi hosted Sri Lanka for a Test match last time in 2009. Najam Sethi added while taking to media that “We are in talks with West Indies Cricket board for a T20 tri-series in United States and we will also engage Bangladesh for three nation series”.
