Pakistan Army seals the National Baseball Championship
Pakistan Army defeated Pakistan WAPDA by 8-6 to win the 23rd Khawar Shah National Baseball Championship at the Bahria Baseball Stadium, Lahore.
In the final of 23rd Khawar Shah National Baseball Championship at the Bahria Baseball Stadium Pakistan Army defeated Pakistan WAPDA in a thrilling encounter by 8-6 and the soldiers notched up the title of National Baseball Championship.
Saqib and Majeed played marvelously for Pakistan Army as they contributing two runs each while Arsalan Jamshed, Ubaidullah, Faqir Hussain and Nazir Ahmed hit one home run each to steal the show.
For WAPDA, Fazal-ur-Rehman and Zakir Afridi also fought well scoring two each while Burhan Johar and Zubair Nawaz contributed one run each. Zakir scored by hitting two home runs. Muhammad Usman of WAPDA was declared as best pitcher of the championship and received the ‘Khawar Shah Award’.
Pakistan Police remained third after defeating Punjab. The final consisted of 9 innings each. Lt Gen (r) Syed Arif Hassan President Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) graced the ceremony as chief guest and distributed the prizes.
