J.A.Zaman Open Golf Championship Tees off today

J.A.Zaman Open Golf Championship kicks off today at Lahore Gymkhana Golf Club course where Shabbir Iqbal will be defending his title in gross category.

J.A.Zaman Open Golf Championship tees off today where golfers will face 55 bunkers, 6 water hazards and out of bounds on 8 holes. It will be a test to the abilities of golfers that how they will strategize and plan their shots to win the championship, Shaukat Javed, Convener Golf stated in a press conference. Hamid Zaman,Head of the Zaman Family, Tariq Zaman, the younger son, Khawaja Pervaiz Saeed ,Director Media and Col(r) Tahir Khan were also present on the occasion.

Zaman family’s Hamid Zaman was of the view that the positive aspect of J.A Zaman Open Golf championship is that it provides the opportunity to the top golfers and professionals of the country to participate in it and the challenges in the championship would reward them for their good performances. Hamid Zaman also committed that they are going to set up a fund for the welfare of the caddies, their training education and health care.

Khawaja Pervaiz Saeed highlighted that prize money allocated for the championship is Rs 1.7 million which is Rs 200,000 more than the previous year, to be distributed amongst thirty five top position holders while another attraction is a CAR for a hole in one.

He added that there is another event for the Junior Professionals and the age eligibility for Junior Professionals will be 23 years and the winner will be awarded with the prize money of Rs 150,000.

Top ranked golf professionals including Shabbir Iqbal (Islamabad),Matloob Ahmed (Islamabad), M. Munir (Islamabad),  Shahid Javed Khan (Gymkhana),  Waheed Baloch (Karachi),   Shafiq Masih (Gymkhana) , Hamza Amin (Islamabad) , M. Ashfaq (Airmen Golf Club, Karachi) , Talib Hussain (Islamabad)  and  M. Asif (Raya) are taking part in the championship. Khawaja Pervaiz added.

Notable amongst the amateurs participating in this championship are AHMED BAIG (Garrison), MOHAMMAD REHMAN (Royal Palm) GHAZANFAR MEHMOOD (Garden City) WAZIR ALI (Gymkhana), ZUNAIR ALEEM KHAN (Gymkhana),  SALMAN JEHANGIR (Gymkhana), IMRAN AHMED (Gymkhana) SAQIB TUFAIL (Garrison), AHSAN KHAWAJA (Gymkhana), MOHSEN ZAFAR (Gymkhana), AHMED ZAFAR HAYAT (Gymkhana), SARDAR MURAD KHAN (Gymkhana), COL. RUSTAM CHATTA (Garrison), KHALID MEHMOOD (Rawalpindi) and RAJA M. ISRAR (Garden City).

For Senior Professionals the age criteria is 50 years and above. Most of the senior professionals taking part in this championship are players who have performed at the National level and prize money allocated for them is Rs 200,000/. He further said.

Zaman Family is the title sponsor of the championship.

Shaukat Javed added that the professionals and amateurs will be competing for over three rounds. 100 professionals and 58 amateurs will be featuring in the championship while the eligibility criteria for them is handicap nine and below.
