Punjab, KP and Fata victorious in Khawar Shah National Baseball Opener
Punjab, KP and Fata down their opponent teams in the first day of the Khawar Shah Memorial National Baseball Championship at Aashiq Hussain Baseball Stadium Bahria Town, Lahore.
Three matches played on the opening day of Khawar Shah Memorial National Baseball Championship at Bahria Town where Punjab, KP and Fata teams made impressive start and won their respective matches on the opening day. In the six-day grand event eight teams are participating which include Army, Wapda, Police, Sindh, Punjab, KP, Fata and Islamabad.
The first match played between Punjab and Islamabad in which Punjab trashed Islamabad with a big margin by 16-2. For Punjab Ali, Afraz Malik, Bilal, Zeeshan, Salman Khan, Hamza Hashmi and Muhammad Wali scored two runs each while Usama and Hamza contributed one run apiece. For Islamabad Bilal and Qaiser scored one run each.
In the second match, KP registered an overwhelming 19-3 win against Sindh. For KP Asim and Abid scored three runs each while Mansoor, Waseem, Faisal Bahadur, Zeeshan, Haris and Hameedullah added two runs apiece and Anser Ali contributed one run. For Sindh, Himmat Ali, Zaheer and Kamran Jutt had share of one run each.
In the third match, Fata defeated Balochistan in one sided match by 10-0. For the winning side, Waheed, Hazratullah and Gohar scored two each and Irfan, Shahid, Arman and Attaullah scored one run each.
Executive Director Bahria Town Lahore, Brig (Rtd.) Khalil ullah Butt graced the ceremony as chief guest while Syed Sheharyar Ali, President Punjab Baseball Association was the guest of honour. It is the first national baseball championship, which is being held after the death of former president of the baseball federation Syed Khawar Shah, who passed in January this year.
