Hamza, Tanveer clinch bronze for Pakistan in junior world Ju-Jitsu Championship
Entrant Pakistan grabbed the Bronze medal in the World Ju-Jitsu Championships for juniors at the Mubadla Arena Abu Dhabi.
Pakistan fielded three fighters where two of them Hamza Farooq and Tanveer Ahmed grabbed the bronze medals for Pakistan while Navy’s Farhan Durrani who was featuring in newaza and fighting failed to get any medal.
“Pakistani team was contesting for the very first time in the event and it is a very healthy sign that on debut we earned the bronze medal” President Pakistan Ju-Jitsu Federation (PJJF) Khalil Ahmed while talking to the media has said. Pakistan has a great potential in the game and we will try to provide facilities and promote the local talent for upcoming events, he further said.
President PJJF added that “federation will bring Brazilian coach to train Pakistani players for upcoming Asian Games to be held in Indonesia from August 18 to September 2”.
“We want a Brazilian coach because the Asian Games will be held in Brazilian style and having the services of a coach from that country would be of great benefit for us” Khalil said.
It is to be mention here that Greece won the gold medal while Poland finished on second and grabbed the silver medal. Debutant men in green ended on the third position.
