Owais Rasheed clinch U-19 Slovenian Junior Open 2018
Pakistan’s Owais Rasheed secured first spot in U19 - Group B of Slovenian Junior Open 2018 with 115-69 points at Konex Center Ljubljana, Slovenia.
Slovenian Junior Open was hosted by Slovenian Squash Association (SQZS) under the supervision of World Squash Federation, in which large number of boys and girls from different countries participated. The tournament comprises BU13, GU13, BU15, GU15, BU17, GU17, BU19, GU19 categories.
Pakistan’s U-19 squash player Owais Rasheed was rated as 3/4 seed in the tournament, he starched the match to its limits and knout out first seed of the tournament to win the title in U-19 category of Slovenian Junior Open with 115-69 points in Group B.
In the last match of Group B top seed Maksymilian Wielgus from Poland take a good start as he downed Owais Rasheed in the thrilling first game by 11-9 but Owais easily won the second set by 11-6. The third game also ended in Owais favor as he outplayed his opponent in a tough competition by 13-11.
Although, Owais lost the fourth game by 5-11 but he started playing aggressively against Polish opponent as he did not allow Maksymilian to play freely in the fifth game and defeated the number 1 seed of the tournament by 11-1 to seize the title of Slovenian Junior Open.
