Aisam, Matkowski shines in Dubai Tennis Championship

Pakistani tennis ace Aisam Ul haq along with his Polish partner Marcin Matkowski moved into the quarterfinal of ongoing Dubai Tennis Championship at Dubai Free Tennis Stadium.

In the first round of the event, Pak-Polish duo overpowered Indo-Japanese pair of Divij Sharan and Yuichi Sugita in straight sets by 7-5, 6-1 in 1 hour 49 seconds. The match was played at court 3. Aisam-Matkowski qualified for quarterfinal of Dubai Tennis Championship. 

Pak-Polish pair faced hard resistance in the first round against 45 seed Sharan and 42 seed Sugita as both the pairs first held their serves but at score of 4-4 Aisam-Matkowski breaks the 9th serve of Indo-Japanese pair,the tough and thrilling competition ended in Aisam-Matkowski favors as they won the first set by 7-5. Pak-Polish pair could not allow opponents to play freely as and easily won the second set and the match by 7-5, 6-1.

It is pertinent to mention here that Aisam ul haq and Marcin Matkowski featuring in the 6th tournament as pair in the year 2018. Prior to Dubai Tennis Championship, the duo participated in ATP Rotterdam, Sofia Open, Australian Open, Auckland Open and Qatar Open.

Aisam is currently world no.29 doubles ranking player while his polish partner Marcin Matkowski stands on no.40 in men’s doubles ranking.

Aisam-Matkowski will now face second seed Romanian-Dutch pair of Horia Tecau and Jean-Julien Rojer in the quarterfinal of the tournament. Match will start at 6:20PM (PST).
