Amir, Fakhar win cricinfo best ODI performance awards
Pakistani pacer Mohammad Amir and opener Fakhar Zaman has won the ESPN cricinfo best ODI performance award for the year 2017.
Australian Skipper Steven Smith, Nathan Lyon, Heather Knight, Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Amir are among the winners of ESPN cricinfo awards for the best performances in different categories of cricket in 2017.
Both Pakistani ODI winners were the part of Champions Trophy winner squad. Fakhar Zaman scored a hundred (114) in the all important occasion of the tournament while Mohammad Amir picked up three early wickets in the start of the innings including the Runs machine Virat Kohli as his figures were 3-16 in the final match.
Fakhar and Amir were picked up over Indian Rohait Sharma for his third double century and Afghanistan’s Rashid khan for his seven wickets against West Indies.
In the 11th event of ESPN cricinfo awards, Jury was comprised of Ian Chappel, Courtney Walsh, Ramiz Raja, Daryll Cullinan, Ajit Agarkar and Mark Nicholas.
Indian Kuldeep Yadav was picked up as debutant of year as he got 43 test wickets and his first test wicket of big fish David Warner and he was well ahead of Pakistani rival legspinner Shahdab Khan who picked up 34 wickets in 2017 at an average of 25.35.
Previous cricinfo winners have included Mitchell Johnson, Sachin Tendulkar and Lasith Malinga (three awards apiece) while Dale Steyn, Virender Sehwag, Shahid Afridi, Stuart Broad and Virat Kohli grabbed the awards twice each.
