Pakistan to visit India for Hockey world cup 2018
Pakistan to take part in Hockey world cup scheduled to be held in Bhubaneshwar, India in November-December this year.
Speculations ended on Pakistan’s visit to India for taking part in world cup due to hostile political situation between the two neighboring countries. Pakistan also took part in 2010 hockey world cup held in India.
Pakistan had failed to qualify for last world hockey cup held in Hague, Natherlands in 2014 and returning to the major competition is positive sign for Pakistan and Asian hockey. Pakistan have qualify for the upcoming world cup after ended on 7th position at the Hockey World League Semi-Finals in London and got the fruits of Euro Hockey championship.
World cup 2018 is scheduled to be played from November 28 to December 16 in India. The hosts won only one world cup title in 1975, since then they did not win any gold medal. On the other hand, Pakistan is the most successful side in the world cup hockey history as they won the title for record four times. They also finished with silver medal twice.
Pakistan won the gold medals in 1971, 1978, 1982 and 1994. Australia and Netherlands are two other teams won the title on three occasions each.
